Welcome and Thanks for Visiting!
Prairie Crocus Goats is a registered Nigerian Dwarf breeder and performance herd located in Southern Alberta, owned and operated by Evie Neubauer.
"I always grew up around goats as pets and certainly had no idea that breeding quality dairy goats was even a thing in Canada. However, when the first wave of covid hit and we were forced into quarantine I was looking for something to keep me busy. And then it hit me, I NEED two bottle BABY GOATS! From there I found a couple purebred Toggenburg bottle kids for sale and instantly fell in love. I started to research and become so fascinated with the idea of breeding animals for dairy purposes, so when the same breeder I purchased the kids from offered two does in milk, I was OVER THE MOON! I had always wanted to learn how to hand milk goats and I finally had a great opportunity. Adding these quality animals to our little funny herd of mixed breed goats made me realize that I wanted to focus on quality registered stock because at the end of the day, quality or not, the food bill still comes out to about the same. I spent countless hours on the Canadian goat registry researching high-end breeders and stock. I find the goat world so fascinating and always try to find ways of learning more. I followed several goat breeders and became more familiar with the Nigerian Dwarf breed in particular. When I had the opportunity to add my first Nigerian Dwarf to my herd, I knew I wanted to focus on Nigerians and the rest is history! My goal is to make improvements in each generation of animals in my herd and ultimately, the Nigerian Dwarf breed as a whole. Thank you for visiting my website!" -Evie
